Reiki is a Japanese word (pronounced RAYKEE) which translated means "Universal Life Energy". "Rei" means universal, present everywhere, "KI" is the life force – the non physical vitality that gives life to all living things and which can be activated for the purpose of healing.
When the Ki is high the immune system is very strong. When Ki needs strengthening, perhaps while a person is stressed, there is a susceptibility to illness.
The Reiki practitioner channels the energy through his hands to the recipient, activating the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Whilst restoring the body’s natural balance the Ki energy goes exactly where it is needed, in the exact amount that is required, releasing blocked energy, cleansing the body of toxins and working to create a state of balance. Reiki is a very powerful therapy, outwardly very subtle, but inwardly very profound because it goes to the deeper levels of consciousness where ill health has its roots.
Reiki reinforces the ability to take responsibility for one’s life, and helps to make the necessary changes in attitude and lifestyle to promote a happier and healthier life.
History
REIKI is an ancient form of healing believed to have spread through Tibet, China and India a few thousand years ago. It was rediscovered by Dr Mikao Usui, who after many years of searching discovered ancient manuscript texts which contained the healing symbols in a Tibetan monastery. He still did not have the power of healing, but at the end of a 21 day period of purification, fasting and meditation on Mount Kurama in Japan he received enlightenment and the power of healing. He came down from the mountain and spent the rest of his life practising and teaching what we now know as Reiki.
Reiki is not involved with religion or dogma and is practised and experienced by people from all walks of life from many creeds and cultures.
Reiki Treatment
Receiving Reiki treatment is a very simple, non-intrusive and extremely powerful process. A treatment lasts between 60 and 90 minutes. It is usually done on a treatment couch with the recipient lying down, fully clothed and covered with a blanket. The practitioner gently channels the Reiki energy through the hands to the recipient’s head, front of the body, back, knees and feet. This enables the energy to flow right to the source of the problem and not just the manifesting symptoms. Every cell in the body benefits. It can go to wherever the body has been injured, even through bandages and casts. Reiki can relieve pain and acute symptoms quite rapidly while chronic problems may require more extensive treatment. The number of treatments depends on the root cause of the problem and the amount of energy needed to restore the well being. On average it is recommended that for maximum benefit, three treatments be given over three consecutive days; but many ailments respond fully to the first treatment.
What you experience
You will generally feel a pleasant sensation of warmth or gentle tingling in the area being treated. As the energy comes into balance, stress and tension is released and there is a deep sense of relaxation and a feeling of well-being.
Reiki complements the effectiveness of most forms of medication and treatment. It is a completely safe, natural way of treating disease. It is a healing energy in the truest sense. Reiki restores wholeness and health, releases negative emotional states, reduces stress and brings natural balance to the whole person.
You can be a Healer
Through a series of attunements, our natural healing channel is awakened and amplified, encouraging the acceleration of physical, mental, and emotional healing and spiritual growth. It is very simple hands on body work. There is no intellectual process involved in learning Reiki. The desire to learn and the attunements of Reiki are all that is needed to channel this healing energy.
First Degree Reiki
The four attunements which take place over a weekend class open the healing channel within you whilst fine tuning the physical and etheric bodies to a higher vibration. This brings a raised level of conscious awareness after which the Reiki energy can be channelled to heal yourself, other people and animals. Time is given to studying the “body mind” and the origins of disease. The history and ethics of Reiki are taught as well as the seventeen hand positions and various ways of practising Reiki both on a personal and professional level. You can learn how to energise your food, drinks, crystals and even your work. The whole workshop is practical and is a profound and transformative experience. On completion of the course you will be awarded a certificate.
Second Degree Reiki
This course is for those who have completed First Degree Reiki and are ready to go further and it is an opportunity to renew as well as deepen your commitment to Reiki. You learn to work with some of the secret symbols revealed to Dr Usui and will receive a powerful attunement, which intensify the effects of your treatments. You also learn a more advanced method and a special kind of absent healing. You are awarded the Second Degree Reiki certificate on the successful completion of this course.
Third Degree Reiki (Master) Is for those who are prepared to commit deeply to Reiki and at least a year after Second Degree wish to train to teach Reiki. You will learn the Master symbol and have the opportunity to practice the process of attuning others to Reiki both during the course as well as observing & assisting in other Reiki courses until you feel you are ready to start teaching.
I have pleasure in inviting you to become a Reiki Healer and please ask for details of my workshops.
